NOSA Sprint Cars Make Their Annual Return to NCR
By Mike Spieker
ADA, MN (July 9) – The Northern Outlaw Sprint Association will thunder into Norman County Raceway Thursday night for their 10th appearance to the high-banked 3/8th mile. Last year, NOSA made their long awaited return to NCR after a six year hiatus and was welcomed back with a record breaking crowd. The same is to be expected again this year as Johnson’s Spray Service presents the 410 cubic inch Sprint Car touring series for the second consecutive year.
Donny Schatz made a surprise visit during the 2013 Sprint Car special and parked his Schatz Crossroads #15 in KRJB/KRJM Victory Lane. Here are some of the drivers to watch for Thurday:
Austin Pierce picked up his second career NOSA feature win at Red River Co-op Speedway in Winnipeg, MB on June 26 and hasn’t finished outside the top three since. In addition, the driver of the Opp Construction #2a is now the NOSA point leader heading into Thursday night’s race.
Jordan Adams is the most recent winner with the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association as he claimed his first ever feature win last Saturday night at Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN. The young Reynolds, ND driver will look to continue his recent success with a strong run at NCR.
Less than a week ago, Lou Kennedy Jr. was sitting on top of the NOSA points standings. But Kennedy Jr. has endured some tough luck as of late which began at Red River Co-op Speedway where he ran out of fuel on the final lap while running second. Last Friday at River Cities Speedway mechanical problems troubled the #21k. Saturday night at Greenbush didn’t go much better for Kennedy either as he was sidelined due to a nagging knee injury.
The defending NOSA Outlaw Sprint Car Series champion, Wade Nygaard is always a threat to win every time he hits the track. Nygaard has tallied one victory during the 2014 season and he certainly knows how to get around NCR as he has one win in Ada, which came in 1999.
Also on the racing program will be WISSOTA Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, and NCR Trophy Cars/IMCA Sport Compacts. Racing begins at 7:00pm. The races can also be listened to live on KRJB 106.5 FM and KRJBradio.com. For live video coverage log onto SpeedShiftTV.com.
